    How come for the past few months we keep getting emails saying they have now hired _____ to be the new vice, assistant, chancellor, provost, dean, whoever for whatever department. I thought there was a hiring freeze. I swear if we add up all these salaries it would total well over a few million dollars! Do we really need all these $100,000+ staff members at UCR?

    You bring up an interesting point. Although our focus has centered on Irvine, residents and workers and faculty and students here are no less concerned or affected than Riverside. Perhaps your question is better addressed in the many interviews beneath this post?
